New Year, New Blog: From launches to holistic basements

Founder Gemma has a few things on our blog to look forward to this year. From the most anticipated launches in the UK and Europe scheduled throughout the year, to our brand-new holistic hub at House of Indigo.

As we welcome in new beginnings, here at Indigo we prepare for a hopeful year ahead with many exciting openings and events scheduled already throughout the year, in the UK and Europe. We are pushing out our clients ground-breaking concepts, as well as looking inwards as a company to when we can open up our wonderful space, House of Indigo once again, and launch a brand-new holistic hub in our basement, which will soon become an integral part of everything we do.

Here are some brilliant things to look forward to in 2021.

First up is Ramona – paying homage to the building’s industrial past as a garage depot and drawing inspiration from Detroit’s ‘MoTown’, the brand-new venue will be home to a Detroit Pizzeria & Bakery, Margarita Bar, Wood Grill, Beer Garden, Coffee Counter and Stage. Located on Swan Street in Ancoats, they have some big news coming very soon so sign up and find out more.

Another fitting addition to a city renowned for its solid music scene is Blues Kitchen, set to open its Manchester site late Spring, located on Quay Street, just off Deansgate. This new restaurant, bar and late-night hotspot will bring a taste of New Orleans to Manchester, filled with Blues, BBQ and Bourbon.

After what was a monumental success in Manchester last summer, Escape to Freight Island is expanding into The Ticket Hall. We proudly launched the space back in October last year, and most of you may not have had the chance to check the venue out yet. Positioned underneath the striking roof structure of Depot Mayfield; The Ticket Hall is sitting quietly until it opens with a bang once more. It will continue to lead the way with a wide range of top-quality food and drinks vendors, as well as an entertainment schedule packed full in typical Freight Island fashion.

One for those whose New Year’s resolutions include a healthier lifestyle, we have Manchester’s most innovative and luxurious fitness space for you: GSquared Health Clubs is in the vaults of one of Manchester’s most historic buildings, the Royal Exchange Arcade. With a multi-faceted approach to fitness and wellbeing, the training space will revolutionise the gym scene. Opening very soon.

Kimpton Clocktower Hotel
, which opened very briefly in 2020 is looking forward to a standard of launch party the building has become accustomed to over the last few years. We briefly reminisce about the Come As You Are parties in Refuge (can’t wait for its return) and the Sunday Times Style party with Mark Ronson, and get excited about what this year’s launch party (when we can) to celebrate the global luxury hotel brand taking over one the most incredible buildings in the City. Email kezia@weareindigopr.com to register to be on our future guest-lists, the parties will be back at some point this year and you are all invited.

Moving to the North East of England, Newcastle is expecting a brand-new lifestyle destination hotel, INNSiDE by Meliã, which will open once restrictions are lifted. The 161-room hotel will be located in the heart of the city on the buzzing Quayside, offering breath-taking views across the Tyne and an eclectic home-away-from-home setting for guests to explore Newcastle’s delights.

The last year has seen the rise of ‘at-home meal kits’, and it’s looking like the trend is here to stay – so, may we present to you: Pizza Punks, with a range of offerings sure to cater for all your lockdown needs. Boasting their signature San Franciscan sourdough, the line-up includes both restaurant quality Bake at Home pizza boxes, as well as exciting Dough-I-Y kits for all budding pizza enthusiasts Or, if you fancy a party, we suggest their Pizza Party in a Box complete with in-house cocktails. Over to Ibiza, the team have been working on and will be attending a virtual Human R’evolution Retreat later this month made possible by Ibiza Retreats and Transformation Station joining forces. Providing an authentic connection with an ongoing support network, the retreat will develop practical tools and techniques to improve emotional wellbeing, as well as mental and physical health. Allowing participants to channel and uplift energy across the globe, it is sure to empower spiritual evolution and guide you in a range of holistic mind-body practices, ideal for lockdown 3.

A key international opening for We Are Indigo is Cotton Club Zakynthos, sister to the iconic Cotton Beach Ibiza, listed by Conde Nast Traveller as one of the best beach clubs in the world. COTTON CLUB ZAKYNTHOS will offer a destination where guests can spend all day, fully content from sunrise to sunset, enjoying its hallmark soundscape, world-class confident service and a gourmet menu catering to all tastes.

Back to Manchester, we are excited for our friends over at Parklife as we look forward to a new date to dance. The Manchester music festival will return to the fields on 11th & 12th September 2021 for some much-needed good times.

Oh… And keep your eyes peeled for a brand-new food festival, which we are hoping to share with you in Spring.

We Are Indigo are committed to a mindful approach this year, as we are transforming our basement area of the office into a holistic hub. We welcome any suggestions as we start our wellbeing journey, so please feel free to get in touch if you would like to collaborate.

As much as we have plenty of things to look forward to this year, we have also learned a lot from last year. We walk into the new year optimistic and fully prepared for the brighter times ahead of us.

Love Gemma and the team
