The W Series: The Making of a Party

What makes a good party?

Here’s a shot from Parklife last month when The Streets played the Main Stage.

Everybody loves a good party. In Manchester anyway. Parties are memorable, enjoyable and extremely sociable. We Are Indigo hosts roughly up to four parties a month, from launch parties to staff parties, to private parties and as of recently an entire festival. A good party certainly gets people talking.

Behind the scenes of a successful party is months and months of preparation. Whether you’re throwing a party to 10,000 people or 10, you want your guests to enjoy themselves. Hosting a good party is almost all about preparation, with everything ready ahead of the d-date you can be assured that your guests will have a memorable experience.

According to Oprah.com you should not be afraid to invite a Circus, just like The Ivy did in April this year to relaunch their Roof Garden. And on the contrary, the Huff Post believes that serving messy food is worse than serving no food at all. So, we asked some of our team what they think is most important in the making of a party and here’s what they said:

“It’s all about the ambience for me, the sensory values need to be spot on and you have to feel a part of the party. That means that the lighting needs to fit to the mood of the party as well the music, it all has to match. When you walk into a party, you need to feel welcomed and enticed by the atmosphere the moment you walk in.” – Abbie Fowler, Account Executive

“The making of a ‘good’ party is the programme of activities and entertainment going on throughout the day and/or night – this keeps people’s interests and makes them want to stay until the end! The most satisfying feeling is when people leave your event and talk about it long after it happened. This says quite a lot on the hard work that has been put in to create an epic party.” – Sabrina Aghina, Account Manager

“The people, the music and the energy. You can do all the planning in the world but at the end of the day I think it always comes down these factors. When the people and the music bring good energy it encourages that feeling of being present and not caring about anything else in that moment, that’s what makes a memorable party for me.” – Jess Rogers, Account Executive
