2023 IBIZA TRENDS YOU SHOULD KNOW

TREND 1: Ibiza is now a tale of two halves – high tech vs off the grid

Farmers are officially the new DJs, as Ibiza visitors shun the clubs and head to the farms. Our favourite spots for your digital detox are Terra Masia, Ibiza’s largest organic farm over 56 hectares ran by a 2 Michelin Star chef in beautiful Santa Eulalia, and Cas Costas (part of the Nassau Group), an organic market and farm to fork restaurant, situated close to the airport.

We also add Casa Maca, an intimate, rural hotel located in the peaceful hills of Can Palau, just outside of Ibiza town and within minutes of the airport. With spectacular views of the iconic Dalt Vila skyline – the ancient fortress walls, heavenly blue skies and the shimmer of the Mediterranean Sea – ahead and rolling green hills behind, it is one of the most iconic Ibiza settings you could dream of for an island getaway. Fragrant fields of lavender frame the whitewashed main building, a 300-year-old former farmhouse that has been lovingly restored with respect to its architectural heritage- we are accepting media requests from today and is totally OFF THE GRID

Continuing the FARM + SEA TO TABLE trend, luxury restaurant by renowned Michelin star Dutch chef, Edwin Vinke, 1742, has announced this year will see them become 100% Ibiza sourced, connecting diners to the freshest flavours of the white isle in a special 13-course experiential tasting menu. The venue is situated within the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Dalt Villa.

Trips can be completed with unique stays at rural agrotourismo, Can Sastre, set on 4 hectares of lush gardens, or Casa Munich, situated in the heart of the Salinas Nature Reserve, surrounded by pine forests and salt flats, where you can sleep surrounded by live flamingos and get connected with nature through their bike hire scheme.

On the contrast, we announce our brand new client, Can Rudayla, a newly renovated villa in rural Santa Eulalia that is space age, with high tech lighting that transports you to outer space.

TREND 2: The Dutch influx

Dutch tourism has increased by 75%, with the Netherlands now taking up 5th spot for passenger arrival numbers, only behind mainland Spain, United Kingdom, Italy and Germany. Dutch tourism to the island peaked in 2018 and 2019 with over 280,000 visitors per year (2022 saw levels almost reach these pre-pandemic levels too). In 2015, that number was much lower, at around 164,000. In 2023, it’s expected that Dutch tourism will rise again, as all year around connections are restored and the numbers of Dutch owning holiday homes on the island increases.

Dutch operators, IZAKAYA by Amsterdam-born THE ENTOURAGE GROUP, 1742 by Dutch Michelin star chef, Edwin Vinke, and agrotourismo, Can Sastre, by Dutch couple Bibi and Raymond are leading the way with revolutionising the way hospitality is done in Ibiza, bringing ‘the Dutch way’ to the island. Dutch house music is also on the rise in the clubs.

TREND 3: To wine or not to wine?

For wine worth its weight in gold, head to 1742, where you will find the world’s most hard to source and high end selection of wines from across the globe, all housed in the UNESCO world heritage site. We believe a world exclusive. But for those that don’t drink, you won’t be left in the lurch, as Ibiza sees a 150% rise in sober tourism.Non-alcoholic beer tapped are being fitted in beach bars across the island, with all year round radio café-bar, Word of Mouth, leading the trend.
